Description
The Dublin City Development Plan sets out policies and objectives to guide how and where development will take place in the city over the next 6 years. This plan was adopted by Dublin City Council at a Special adjourned Meeting on 24th November 2010. The plan came into effect on 22nd December 2010 and will run until 2017. The plan can be viewed at http://www.dublincity.ie/Planning/DublinCityDevelopmentPlan/Pages/CityDevelopmentPlan.aspx This dataset gives spatial information on the three National and European Environmental Designations (as set out in Map J, included in pdf format)which apply to different parts of Dublin Bay, including Bull Island:
1. Special Protection Areas under the EU Birds Directive to support populations of birds of particular species:
2. Candidate Special Areas of Conservation wildlife conservation areas to support habitats and plant and animal species
3. Proposed Natural Heritage Areas areas of nationally important natural or semi-natural habitats, landforms or physical features, wild plant and animal species or a diversity of these natural attributes.
Bull Island is assigned additional designations including Nature Reserve, Ramsar site (under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance), Wildfowl Sanctuary, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and a Special Amenity Area Order.
The original data sets that these maps are based on areavailable on www.npws.ie/mapsanddata
This dataset is output in MapInfo TAB format, spatial projection Irish Grid.
