Data.gov.ie launch in Dublin

On a sweltering hot June 30th, in the almost tropical environs atrium of the Department of Justice on St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin, the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform officially launched their new improved national datastore data.gov.ie.  Dublinked were just one of a wide range of people and organisations from across the public, business, research and community sectors that attended the event, which is this latest step on the road towards making data held by public bodies more easily accessible online for others to reuse and share. Data Opens Doors

To celebrate over 3 years of working to open up public data in the Dublin Region the Dublinked Innovation Network held an inaugural ‘Data Opens Doors’ Summit that focused on gaining the latest insights from the open data community in Dublin, Ireland and beyond. The event took place on May 7th and was free to attend. It attracted over 120 participants and over 30 speakers from a range of backgrounds including academic researchers, public sector officials, multi-nationals, open data agencies, entrepreneurs and innovation experts. Launch of Dublinked Data Visualisation Competition – €2,000 in prizes to be won!

Over 50 people attended launch of Dublinked Data Visualisation Competition held on 19th March in NUI Maynooth. Presentations on the day included Andy Kirk (VisualisingData), Oliver Mooney (GetBulb), Eoghan McCarthy (AIRO) and Dominic Byrne (Fingal County Council and Dublinked).  With a prize fund of €2,000 the Dublinked Data Visualisation challenges all to explore Dublin’s data via Dublinked Datastore and create visualisation. Prize awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in design category, student award and recognition award for larger company.  Competition will close to entries at midday on Thursday 7th of May – Best of Luck!
